The Association is managed administratively by an Executive Secretary who is the Head Administrator at the National Secretariat.

Based on the bye-laws governing the operations of the association, the mandate of GAMC are listed below:
Develop membership criteria and be a self-regulating body.
Advocate and lobby on behalf of its members for creation of a conducive operating environment.
Ensure that members abide by the code of conduct and comply with industrial norms.
Set best practices among the member microfinance companies.
Provide services for its members in terms of information, training, and building strategic partnerships.
Provide a unified front for lobbying government, development partners, and regulatory bodies.
Serve as an umbrella body for all microfinance companies in Ghana.
